Privacy Policy

Our Stance On Privacy:

"We never collect your personal information, and you will always have control over how your data is shared."

Effective Date: January 7th, 2013

Enliken is a service that allows consumers to control what information is available about them on the web and profit from the use of that information. By using the Enliken Browser Plug-In, consumers can use Enliken Discover to examine the data profile currently being sold about them by certain advertisers. Enliken then gives Users the option to collect their own browsing data using the Plug-In, repackage it, and either designate a Third Party Charity to benefit from the sale of their browsing data (Enliken Donations) or use it as a form of micropayment to access publisher content (Enliken DataWall). Users can choose to use either service individually or both together.

It is our fundamental belief that people should have access to the data created by their web browsing habits. It is our mission to allow Users to control what data they are willing to share and to offer the highest level of protection for that data. Enliken is committed to protecting your privacy while using our Services and will never collect any Personally Identifiable Information ("PII") from Users without their consent.

PLEASE READ THIS PRIVACY POLICY CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING OR USING OUR SERVICES, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND TO ALL THE TERMS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND ENLIKEN'S TERMS OF SERVICE.

This Privacy Policy is incorporated into, and made a part of, the Terms of Service. This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices for the Enliken website, Browser Plug-In, Discover, Donations, DataWall, and all future services to be offered by Enliken. If you have any questions about our privacy policy, please email us at contact@enliken.com.

Enliken Privacy Practices

This Privacy Policy outlines what information we may collect from you, how we use that information, and how we will protect that information. The following are Enliken's guiding principles of privacy protection.

  1. Enliken Discover enables you to see your online profile that advertisers pay to see.
  2. Enliken will never collect Personally Identifiable Information from its users without their permission.
  3. Enliken Plug-In will only collect browsing data that is relevant to advertisers.
  4. Enliken will not give any of your information to Third Parties without your explicit permission, except where required by law.

Enliken Discover Lets You See How Advertisers See You

Cookie Information. When you use Enliken Discover, you give Enliken permission to collect the cookies currently installed on your computer by advertisers and use them to check what information these advertising companies are currently selling about you. Enliken aggregates this data and allows you to view your entire advertising profile in one convenient place. Discover does NOT give any information on its Users to these advertisers.

Enliken Browser Plug-In Only Shares Anonymous Information and Only With Users' Consent

Registration Information. Unique User Accounts are automatically created when the Enliken Browser Plug-In is installed. A unique identifier is applied to the Plug-In for a specific browser on a specific computer using a cookie. If you choose to use Enliken Donations or DataWall, this cookie allows Enliken and our Partners to target tailored advertising based on your browsing behavior. Enliken will never share, sell or lease User information for marketing purposes without consent.

Personally Identifiable Information. Enliken will not attempt to collect any PII from your cookies or browsing activities. The Enliken Browser Plug-In collects only anonymous data. The only time Enliken will ever collect PII is when a User or Charity provides such information through a contact form on the Enliken website in order to be contacted by Enliken. This contact information is never linked to User data.

The Enliken Filter ("Filter"). If you choose to use Enliken Donations or DataWall, the Plug-In collects search terms, form data, and product browsing history from selected sites, a complete list of which can be found here [[link]]. The Filter ensures we only collect information on generic terms of interest to advertisers and will not provide personal information on the User. For example, Enliken will record search data that includes electronics, but not search information that contains your name or medical issues. The list of terms recorded by Enliken is available on our website here http://enliken.com/enliken-filter.html. Only data that passes the Filter ever gets stored by the Plug-In, so Enliken will never have access to any User PII.

Modifying Data Collection Preferences. Users who allow Enliken to gather data through Donations or DataWall can choose what browsing data is collected in the "First Party Data" section of the Enliken application. Users can delete any browsing information they do not wish to be included in their profile on a term-by-term basis. Generally, when the Enliken Filter changes, search data will be automatically collected according to the new filter, and Users will be given the option to Opt-out.

Data Sales. If you opt-in to using Donations or DataWall, Enliken makes the terms you have allowed in the "First Party Data" section of the Enliken Plug-In available to advertisers. The profits generated from the sale of this data are directed to the Charity the User has designated.

Linked Accounts. In the future, you will be able to link different browsers and computers under one unique Enliken account. Such linkage will never be done automatically, nor will Enliken make any attempts to "aggregate" such data without your permission.

Enliken will only Collect PII if the User Wishes to be Contacted Through Our Wesbite

Enliken will only collect PII, such as personal name, company name and e-mail address, in the "Contact Us" section of our website. We will use ONLY use this information to contact you directly, and we will NEVER sell PII to anyone outside Enliken for any reason. We will never match any of the data that is gathered via our Plug-In with other data in an attempt to identify a user, and thus we will NEVER KNOW the identity of a Plug-In user. If for any reason a user wishes to update, correct or remove PII submitted in the Contact Us section, please resubmit your contact information or send an email to contact@enliken.com.

Enliken Protects Data it has and Discards Data it Doesn't Need

Information Security. Enliken takes several precautions to secure your data. We don't store any personally identifiable information, not even an email address in the Plug-In. The Plug-In conducts filtering on the user's browser, not on our servers. Therefore, only data that has passed through the Enliken Filter is ever seen by Enliken. All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted.

Data Retention. We only store User data as long as is necessary for our business purposes.

Terminating Account. Simply uninstall the Enliken Browser Plug-In to terminate your Account. Your Account will be deleted instantly and no further data will be collected from you. We reserve the right to maintain any records of previous browsing history we deem necessary to protect our rights or the rights of others, to prevent harm to persons or property, fight fraud, or improve general user experience.

Information Sharing & Disclosure

Enliken does not intentionally collect any personally identifiable information through the Plug-In. However, although all Users are anonymous, it may be possible to identify a User based on their search terms alone. Enliken will not share any information that could be used to identify a User beyond the everyday functioning of its services except under the following circumstances:

Compliance with Laws and Law Enforcement. Enliken strongly believes in privacy and anonymity in web usage, and will resist efforts by outside parties to intrude on User privacy. Nonetheless, we reserve the right to disclose information in order to cooperate with government and law enforcement officials and private parties to comply with the law, or within our discretion as is reasonable to protect the rights and safety of Enliken or any third party.

Business Transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of our company (or our assets) or in the event of our bankruptcy (collectively, "Business Transfer"), we will not sell, transfer or otherwise share your information in connection with said Business Transfer without your consent. Users will be given notified of any Business Transfer and given the option to delete their data that remains on the Enliken, Inc. servers.

Links to Other Sites. This Privacy Policy only addresses the use and disclosure of information we collect from you. Other websites linked through our services, either by Enliken (through link or advertisement) or by other users, are governed by their own Privacy Policy and may have their own data collection and disclosure practices. It is your responsibility to review the Privacy Policies and Terms of Services of any Third Party. We are not responsible for the policies or practices of third parties. We do not make any representation as to any aspect of their Services and accept no liability for your use thereof.
